Gwyneth Paltrow- actress, singer, wife and mom is also one of my favorite style icons. She just puts together outfits so effortlessly. I absolutely adore her. She is one of my life pegs… along with Martha Stewart of course! haha! See how she puts together 6 outfits using 3 wardobe must-haves: The long jersey dress, short flirty jacket, and printed dress.

How can I possibly write about Yummy Mummy Style without featuring one of my favorite momma pegs Mikka? This woman can do anything— run after a super energetic and totally adorable 2 year old, maintain her personal blog A Mischmasched Life, contribute numerous articles to other style blogs, design for clothing label Faith Hope Love, run several other businesses (her eponymous line of clutches was recently featured in Shopcrazy) and end the day by tucking in her little one into bed and having some quiet time with the hubby. Impossible, I know. But somehow she manages to fit in everything and look fabulous while doing it all.

Describe your Style?
Memorable minimalist/preppy meets eclectic.

(necklace by Mikka, I-Candy shirt, Forever 21 skirt, D&G oxfords, clutch by Mikka)
What are your absolute mommy style must-haves?
My Marc by Marc Jacobs diaper bag that looks more like a distressed leather tote than a diaper bag, comfortable wedges, subtly deconstructed shift dresses that allow me to run after a toddler in style.

(wedges form Aldo and Banana Republic, sandals from Substance and Subculture, oxfords from D&G)
What did you wear while you were pregnant?
Just mostly my pre-pregnant clothes still since I’m into roomy (yet sexy) clothes which were very accommodating for a burgeoning belly. When I got a little too big, I resorted to cotton maxi dresses.
What’s a typical day like for you?
When I’m lucky enough to wake up before my daughter, I get to enjoy a good cup of coffee with my husband who’s just on his way out. I then begin to write for the blog sites that I contribute for. With Mischka awake, it get busier (she can consume my whole day, without a sweat). But I have long realized the solution is to take her with me wherever I go. To store visits, meetings with suppliers, fittings, grocery shopping, wherever, whatever. My husband and I catch up over a hearty dinner and a glass of Chardonnay. I end my day by putting my daughter to sleep after a story (or two) and a little prayer.
What do you wear on a typical day?
I often find myself wearing Faith Hope Love. I can sometimes be guilty of head-to-toe fashion faux pas. It just has all the wardrobe essentials my lifestyle needs. From dresses to tops, to skirts, to pants.

(skirt and blouse separates: Faith Hope Love, wedges: Aldo, Onyx necklace from Leagaspi Market. On Mischka- dress: Kids of Bayo, shoes: Pedi Pedi, bangles: Children’s Place)
What do you wear on weekends?
Shorts, dressed up blouses punctuated with punchy accessories.

(silk blouse: Zara, brocade shorts: Plains and Prints, necklaces: Flea Market Finds, handbag: Loewe, sandals: Charles and Keith)
Date night?
When I’m in the mood to dress up, I don a little black dress, but mostly I do separates. A skirt and shirt ensemble accessorized with my baubles is typical.

(stripe shirt: H&M, beaded bubble skirt: United Pop, shoes: substance)
Formal events?
I’m usually in long jersey or silk gowns by Azucar.
What are your absolute kiddie style must-haves?
Boyfriend jeans, leggings, sweet dresses, striped tops. I absolutely adore nautical on kids.
What’s in your bag?
Galaxy Tablet, Canon S9, a little black notebook, mu sunnies, wallet and a little toy of Mischka’s.
Favorite shoes?
Substance cut-out pumps which I have in both black and blue
Favorite bag/s?
Right now its’s this forest green Loewe Napa Aire from my husband. I’m not sure, but I guess they call it Aire because its so light!

Favorite Accessories?
Oh boy, I have a lot! I don’t even know where to begin. I guess those that I have collected through my travels are more special.

(oversized watches from: Prada, Nixon and Michelle. Statement necklaces: Cosmopolitan art deco black, white yellow, Black onyx with deer: Legaspi Market, beaded link necklaces from Cebu, Multi strand beads from Bacolod Lace Center.)
Which wardrobe pieces are currently on heavy rotation?
I must say my striped shirts and chambray button-downs.
What are your favorite shopping haunts for? For Mischka?
The Ramp! I am passionate about Filipino design so I mostly like to wear local labels. But then of course, there are those high-street players that are just so hard to resist.
For Mischka, its The Ramp Kids, Gingersnaps, Cotton On Kids and SM
If you could raid someone’s closet it would have to be…
Jenna Lyons’ for some laid-back-glam-effortlessly-chic fix and Giovanna Battaglia’s for some sensory overload.
Lastly, favorite blogs or websites?
Design Mom, The Glamourai, Jak and Jil, Who What Wear, Style.com and Little Lovely.

Describe your style. Hmmm, I guess I would have to say Adrogynous Japanese Rocker?
What are your absolute mommy style must-haves? STATEMENT FLATS.

What did you wear while you were pregnant? Empire dresses, my husband’s polos and expandable shorts.
What do you wear on a normal day? My yoga clothes, shorts, cut-offs, and jumpers.
Weekends? Maxi skirts, casual pants, dresses, jeans…

Date night? A nice dress, high heels and makeup. haha!
Formal Affairs? Long gown, minaudiere and jewelry.

Favorite shoes? YSL and Miu Miu

Bags? Any at all…

Favorite Accessories: I’m still working on it! I like them big and chunky whether it be rings, bracelets or necklaces.

What are your favorite shopping haunts for yourself and Emma? The Ramp and Ramp kids!

P.S.
I’m not her only fan! Check out Super Fab Mom Mikka of A Mischmashed Life’s take on Pat’s style here.
Back when fashion was my life and styling was what I did on a day to day basis, I relied on pegs to keep me inspired. I kept a close eye on Olivia Palermo and her impeccable accessory choices and Taylor Tomasi Hill and her effortless way of mixing hi-low and clashing prints. Now that I’m a soon-to-be momma, I still have my pegs. The following are blogs of moms that I admire. They inspire me to be awesome in the different fields of motherhood.
First up is my friend Cecille of Cilly Momma’s Blog She’s amazing with her darling boy Matteo. She’s a stay-at-home mom with no yaya! Cil does everything herself and looks amazing doing it. She’s also a first time mom so a lot of what I’m about to go through, she’s already experienced. The blog has awesome tips on how to raise a baby without the aid of a yaya and how to go about registering for your baby shower. I’m looking forward to reading about her future adventures with matteo!

The second blog is also by a friend. Her name is Mikka and she’s the creator of A Mischmashed Life. I look to her for stye inspiration. My goodness! This mom/mum (as she likes to call herself) never fails to look amazing each and every time I see her. I don’t know where she finds the time to look so put together between running around after a 2 year old and managing a business she has with a friend. I love how she surrounds her daughter with art, fashion and everything beautiful. Mikka also posts her current style obsessions when it comes to both fashion and interiors.

Third on my list is my sis-in-law Christine. She’s a makeup artist, super crafter and busy mom of two lovely girls. I’m amazed at how she comes up with awesome invites, decors and packaging and where she finds time to produce all these things. I sometimes feel bad about ripping her beautifully wrapped presents apart. Christine also writes about makeup and her super cool beauty finds. I find this helpful since I know next to nothing about makeup. You can now view her blog Christhings through blogspot. Her old posts can be viewed through wordpress.

All these moms serve as my inspiration and motivation to be the best momma that I can be. I may not be able to do be the perfect combination of all three but to get just a tiny bit out of everyone is more than enough! :)
How about you? Who are your pegs?
